Filming Diary 8/10/15

Filming Diary 8/10/15

In preparation for our filming we booked out our sixth form theatre to film some clips for our music video. All we did to to this was checked that it was free then booked it in with the receptionist. On the day we used the hall from 11.30am until 12.30pm in which we had prepared all the shots we needed to film so we could start filming straight away. Once we arrived in the theatre we spread the black curtains across all the walls that we were filming to give us the blank canvas that we wanted and had all the tiered seating pushed back.

We originally planned to use several mirrors to surround the artist whom would be sitting on a black stool in the middle, however when filming we found that it didn't look as effective as we thought it would and therefore changed the shot so it was just the artist sitting in a room without any extra mis-e-scene as we thought this would be more raw and powerful.

The equipment we was going to use was a camera, tripod and dolly however on set when taking on set photos we found that the quality on our phones recorded in a better quality than the cameras as the footage looked pixalated and blurry. To ensure our phone cameras would work we filmed some preliminary shots and found that it worked well therefore we recorded the rest of our footage on our phones.

After filming in the theatre we drove down to our second location at the church which we spent less time than anticipated at as we had pre-planned all the shots we wanted so they didn't take too long to film. Unexpectedly we couldn't film inside the church so we had to adapt some of the shots however we overcame the problem and we now prefer the alternate shots we have.

After filming in the church we walked up to the forest where our third location was and on the way we stopped at the country road which we thought would fit our music video well so we filmed some improvised clips which ended up looking effective and we decided to include it in our music video. This didn't take up too much time as we had time to spare as we were in-front of our schedule so we could afford to film some extra footage.

Finally we arrived at our third location of the forest which we were going to film the artist singing however once arriving we found that it would look more effective making the artist look like she's in a day dream with her friend who passed away. Although we didn't plan this shot we found that recording it in the moment worked really well and when playing it back it was one of our favorite shots as it looked so natural. The only problem we encountered was trying not to get any private property or members of the public in our shots however the majority of our shots were filmed in secluded areas which were quiet also we filmed in the middle of the day in the week so there wasn't many people around.

We ensure we checked the weather several days in advanced to make sure that we didn't get caught up in the rain and ruin any equipment.

Task 10: Risk Assessment

Task 10: Permissions

Permissions

In order to use the Beyonce's song "Heaven" we had to get in contact with her record company and ask for permission. We firstly planned to send them a letter because we could not find the correct email address, but we kept looking and eventually found it. The picture below is a copy of the letter that we wrote, which we copied and pasted into an email.

Also we had to ask permission from the Church Wardens and the Vicar of the church to film in the church grounds. We found the email address of the church on the church website and sent an email through the website.
